Emerging Issues in Cochlear Implantation

 

The Symposium is being hosted by the American Cochlear Implant Alliance, a new non-profit organization whose mission is to advance access to the gift of hearing provided by cochlear implantation through research, advocacy and awareness.

The Cochlear Implant Symposium will address key research findings, clinical implications, and cost effectiveness related to six emerging topics in the field. Each of six 3-hour topical segments will include expert speakers from across the treatment continuum. The final hour of each segment will consist of a panel discussion of the speakers and additional participants who will address these topics in an interactive manner. The six key topics are: 

  • Hearing Preservation
  • Implantation of the Very Young
  • Implanting Multiply Involved Children
  • Cochlear Implants in Single-Sided Deafness
  • Cochlear Implantation in Older Adults
  • Telehealth and Cochlear Implantation

 Other special conference features include:

  •  Plenary sessions each day to discuss address cochlear implantation in today’s health care environment
  • ACI Alliance on the Hill, an initiative on Thursday morning to allow conference attendees to share information about cochlear implants with elected officials
  • A private showing of a new film drama “95 Decibels” at a reception on Thursday evening (free to registrants). The event will include an interactive discussion with the film’s director, crew, and actors
